When glass has an added layer of safety and security film, it helps safeguard against theft or intrusion, flying debris, extreme weather, explosive blasts, and unfortunate accidents. Our safety and security film helps hold glass together and reinforces it in two ways: with the heavy-duty film itself, plus a strong adhesive that bonds tightly to glass. This is how it slows and discourages intruders, and how it helps keep occupants safe when glass breaks.
Security window film can prevent an attacker from breaching the school or building glass quickly, therefore allowing time for law enforcement to arrive and apprehend the assailant.
Be wary of any security film product that claims to be bullet proof or bullet resistant.
There is no film on the market or in existence that will make existing glass 100% bullet proof.
Laminated glass and metal bars offer protection, but they’re much more costly and difficult to install. Additionally, bars obscure views and advertise security concerns to every visitor. Clear safety and security window film is a modern, affordable alternative. It’s easy on budgets, optically clear with no tint, and comes in a variety of thicknesses. This allows you to match the level of film strength to your client’s concerns.
It’s like two films in one. It helps make building occupants more comfortable by combining reassuring safety benefits with the power to temper the sun’s heat, reduce glare, and block more than 99% of damaging UV rays. When you fortify commercial windows with solar safety film, you’re helping to protect and preserve valuable property assets – without sacrificing wide-open views or natural light. Plus, you’re keeping windows from being more accessible entry points for criminals, sweltering heat, and harmful UV rays.
The safety & security film by itself isn’t quite enough. Window film can only be installed on the glass surface to within 1/16 of an inch of the window frame. Although this is a relatively small gap, it is still a weak point. By itself, it is safety glass. Furthermore, with enough force, the glass, even with the film, can go through the frame. This is where the attachment system is critical.
An attachment system binds the film and the frame together, creating one piece with no weak points. They come in two forms and are chosen depending on the type of frame on the window.

The application of the security attachment system is critical if you are concerned about protection from intruders, bomb blasts, etc. Without it, your glass will stay together, but the glass and film may fall through the frame easily.
It is very important to know that these security films and attachment systems are not bullet resistant or bulletproof. The design is specifically used to deter entry. There is potential of a break-in, although it may take an intruder minutes to gain entry. The idea is that these minutes are crucial, giving occupants an opportunity to seek cover, allowing the building to lock down, and giving authorities time to respond to the situation.

The second type of system, an Impact Protection Adhesive, is a wet glaze, caulk-like material. It requires a minimum of 1/2 inch metal frame surface. This particular attachment is typically for applications where the frame may not be exactly perpendicular to the glass. For instance, a 45-degree angle away from the glass would be appropriate. It is also able to be worked into tight spots where the IPP cannot easily be installed. This caulk-like substance should be applied as such.
